The Town of Cobourg’s Civic Awards Advisory Committee is calling for nominations for its 19th annual Civic Awards to recognize local residents who have helped benefit the community through outstanding volunteerism and community involvement.
The call comes at the end of a year that has been challenging in many ways, Mayor John Henderson said in the announcement.
“We have also experienced an exceptional level of community support, kindness and philanthropy,” Henderson added.
“Coming together to honour and validate the many volunteers within our town has always been a highlight of the year, and I encourage you to nominate someone deserving today.”
COVID-19 means no big recognition ceremony this year, but successful recipients will be honoured at a virtual gala on Friday, April 23.
Residents are encouraged to nominate a deserving individual, with nomination form and awards-category information at //www.cobourg.ca/civic-awards.
Review the criteria to select the most appropriate category for your nominee, complete the on-line form, include all required information (with supporting documentation if applicable), and submit your material by Monday, March 1.
The committee also hopes residents will help spread the word and encourage others to nominate someone who is deserving of one of these outstanding awards.
The Civic Awards Advisory Committee would like to thank the generous support of local sponsors, including BMO Nesbitt Burns (Karen Chalovich), Cobourg Lions Club, Lakefront Utility Services Inc., RBC Wealth Management (Lynn Hardy), Rotary Club of Cobourg, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #133 and the Town of Cobourg.
