United Way Northumberland Kicks Off 12 Days of Good News Holiday Campaign

In Community

December 14, 2020 – On the first day of the 12 Days of Good News, Northumberland United Way is excited to announce that the Behan Construction matching gift of $20,000 is complete.

“We are incredibly grateful to Behan Construction for their generous matching donation that has helped to raise more than $44,000,” says Bobbie Dawson, Executive Director, Northumberland United Way. “This has been a tough year, but among the challenges, there have been many good things that have happened too. Over the next 12 days, we are going to be highlighting some of these stories as a wrap to 2020. We’re excited to announce the completion of the Behan Construction matching gift as our first piece of good news.”

On Friday, November 20, during our MBC Radiothon, Northumberland United Way announced the Behan Construction matching gift of $20,000 that would match all donations to United Way, doubling the impact of individual gifts.

“We like to support United Way because it is neighbour helping neighbour. The money goes directly into supporting our community, helping to improve the lives of those amongst us who need a hand up,” says Tom Behan, President, Behan Construction. “United Way has a long history of being well connected with a wide range of community contacts so they are in a strong position to determine the needs in this area and United Way knows how to best stretch the money for maximum effectiveness. We have a high level of confidence that our money is going to be put to good use by United Way.”

“Behan Construction is a long-time supporter of United Way in Northumberland County and we are so thankful for their continued generosity and commitment to helping people right here at home,” says Bobbie.

From now until December 25, Northumberland United Way will be sharing a new good news story each day to highlight some of the good things that have happened in a challenging year. We would like to encourage you to do the same. Do you have a good news story you would like to share? Email mdarling@nuw.unitedway.ca for a chance to be featured. Stories can be written, in pictures, videos, however, you see fit.

During these unprecedented times, when the needs are greater than the funds available and programs are overtaxed, every dollar counts. Every dollar donated to Northumberland United Way is helping to support vital programs in our community and to meet the immediate needs of vulnerable individuals.
