Cobourg Council – Kerr Street Will Bring Many Benefits

In City Hall

The ribbon cutting to open Kerr Street will take place Dec. 2 at 11 a.m., and Brian Darling took a moment at Monday’s council meeting to talk about the project and its many benefits.

Darling had recently viewed footage of the street taken from a drone, and said he was really impressed.

One thing that stood out for him was the tree canopy, given the town’s Urban Forest Master Plan.

“Upwards of 100 new trees and bushes were planted along Kerr Street,” Darling said.

And citing the town’s Active Transportation policies, he noted that a new paved multi-use path runs along the street’s north side between Brook Road and Division Street.

“The hope is to go west from there to Ontario Street,” he said.

“It opens up approximately 10 acres of developable land on the south side.

“There’s a new entrance into the Northam Industrial Park, and I am sure the customers at Home Hardware will be happy to see the traffic lights at that intersection.”
