$1 TURNS INTO $1 MILLION:

Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for a group of four from Kawartha Lakes and Cobourg. The group matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the October 30, 2020 LOTTO MAX draw to win $1 million!

The group members are:
Susan Smallwood of Kawartha Lakes
Glenn Smallwood of Kawartha Lakes
Mary Smith of Cobourg
Charles Smith of Cobourg

The group met five years ago while on a cruise and have been playing the lottery together for a year and a half. “We met in a hotel in Florida and discovered the next day we were all on the same cruise staying three doors down from each other! We’ve been friends ever since,” shared Susan, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings.

Susan woke up at 6 a.m. the Saturday morning after the draw and noticed she had an email from OLG. “It was different from the usual winner notifications. When I saw $1 million, I thought it was a joke and ran to wake my husband! We were all shaking.”

Susan and Glenn called Mary and Charles using FaceTime to share the news. “They jumped out of bed and couldn’t believe we won. We are all overwhelmed and feeling so many things. What an incredible experience,” smiled Susan.

Susan says her husband is going to retire and they will share some of their winnings with their kids and parents. “Travel is the priority for our group, and this will fund many more international adventures for years to come.”

ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There is an ENCORE draw every day.

OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by-appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre. To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry. Players should contact the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options or to schedule an appointment.

The winning ticket was purchased on PlayOLG.ca.
