Peterborough County OPP – Boat Accident on White Lake

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a boat accident on White Lake near Patterson Road at approximately 12:00pm this afternoon.

A canoe with two occupants on board capsized while fishing on White Lake. The occupants were in the water for an unknown period of time before they were discovered by a member of the public.

Two males were transported to shore by members of the Douro-Dummer Fire Department and taken to an area hospita l by Peterborough County Paramedics. One male was pronounced deceased at hospital. The second male is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin are notified.

The cause of this accident remains under investigation.
