Cobourg Police – Drug Arrests

As part of an ongoing enhanced enforcement strategy targeting illegal drug activity affecting our community and the safety of our citizens, members of the Cobourg Police Service and Port Hope Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch, with assistance from the Cobourg Police Service Uniform Patrol, conducted two street level drug arrests following an investigation into persons trafficking illicit drugs.

On Friday, October 30th, as a result of this investigation, police seized roughly 14 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of MDMA and .5 grams of cocaine worth a potential street value of $1,600. Police also seized over $1,200 in Canadian Currency.

Stacey WATSON, 34 years, and Kevin BANDY, 47 years, both residents of Cobourg, were arrested and jointly charged with the following:

1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine – contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

2. Possession of a schedule 1 substance – MDMA (ecstasy) – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

3. Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Cocaine – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

4. Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000 – contrary to Section 355(5)(b) of the Criminal Code

Both accused were released to a future court date by way of undertaking with strict conditions.  Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips or leave an anonymous tip online stopcrimehere.ca.
