Update – Peterborough County OPP – Investigating Fatal Fire in Havelock

The deceased victim has been identified as Barbara STORRING (age 70) of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township. The fire has been deemed non-suspicious and this investigation is closed.

On October 13, 2020 at approximately 5:30am, members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Fire Department were called to attend a structure fire on Coun ty Road 30 south of the Village of Havelock.

At approximately 9:00am, the body of a deceased victim was located within the structure.

The Office of the Fire Marshal was contacted and will be attending to investigate.

The identification of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
