Cobourg Police – Shoplifting Arrest

On Tuesday, September 15th, at 9:38 pm, police were dispatched to a store in the northwest area of the Town of Cobourg for a shoplifter in progress call.

The complainant advised that a man was in the store concealing items in his backpack.

As a result of police investigation, Peter CORTESIS, a 34-year-old male from the Town of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with:

1. Theft Under $5000 – Contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

2. Possession Under $5000 – Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released on an appearance notice with a future court date and a trespass notice to the store.
