In Editor Choice, Local, Police Blotter

A group effort by emergency services rescued a 45-year-old man after the ATV he was riding rolled on top of him north of Cobourg in Hamilton Township on Sunday, September 6, 2020.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. emergency services were notified of the incident on a trail east of Turk Road.

The driver was rounding a corner with other ATV riders when the machine rolled on top of him. He was initially unconscious immediately following the collision.

The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Emergency services including Hamilton Township Fire Department, Northumberland OPP and Northumberland County Paramedics responded to the area of the collision.

Access to the victim was only by ATV.

The victim was extricated from the trail by firefighters and transported to hospital with what are believed to be non life threatening injuries.

Paramedics credit a helmet the man was wearing for preventing more serious injuries.
