YMCA Northumberland Cobourg Branch Reopens

In Community

Cobourg, ON – YMCA Northumberland has been preparing to welcome members back to our facilities since the moment we closed. The doors to our Cobourg Branch will reopen Monday, August 17th.

At YMCA Northumberland, we believe our number one priority is to ensure the health and safety of all members, families, staff and volunteers who choose our YMCA to meet their health and fitness needs. Since the Government of Ontario announced that health, fitness and aquatics centres and community centres could open, we have taken the time to understand the guidelines to provide members with a safe and enjoyable experience upon return. It was not as easy as turning on a switch and unlocking the doors. Our team has been working hard to ensure appropriate measures are taken to implement these guidelines and policies and to ensure our staff and volunteers are fully trained on all requirements to meet your expectations upon your return. In short, we took our time to make sure we get this right.

Several YMCA Northumberland programs and services have recently been successfully reactivated, and we will continue to work through our cautious and phased approach with the plan to reopen additional programs and services as outlined below: –

August 17th Conditioning Centre at Cobourg Branch will open

September 8th Brighton Branch will open

Cobourg Squash Court will open

Playcenter at Cobourg YMCA will open with modified service

September 14th Indoor pool at Cobourg Branch will open

Personal Training will resume at Cobourg Branch

TBA – Fall 2020 Swim lessons and youth programs will resume

YMCA Northumberland will be sharing updates and announcements regularly through their website, social media channels and member emails. Additionally, their team of staff and volunteers is currently calling all members of YMCA Northumberland to answer and questions regarding the reactivation plan. As of Monday, August 17th, YMCA Northumberland encourages members and guests to stop by for a tour to see firsthand the steps that we are taking to keep you safe.

YMCA Northumberland is a leading charity dedicated to helping communities connect, belong and thrive. The closure of their physical spaces and many programs and services as a result of COVID-19 has come at a significant cost to the YMCA, just as it has to many businesses in our community. There are many ways to support YMCA Northumberland including:

Reactivating your membership – membership can be reactivated for August 17th by emailing info@nrt.ymca.ca Memberships not reactivated in August will be automatically reactivated for September 14th when the remainder of our facilities reopen.
