Cobourg Council – CAO Interviews Set

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
With Stephen Peacock having resigned a year ago from the Chief Administrative Officer’s post – and Director of Finance Ian Davey doing his own job and that one as well in the interim – Deputy Mayor Suzanne Seguin reports progress toward finding a replacement at council Monday.

“The Mayor, Councillor (Emily) Chorley and myself reviewed a long list of qualified candidates July 21,” Seguin said.

“All members of council will interview the candidates Aug. 6, and hopefully he or she can begin in September.

“I’m delighted to say we had 72 applications for this position.”

Seguin also offered her congratulations to the neighbouring Municipality of Port Hope, which recently announced its own new CAO, David Smith, who begins Sept. 2.

“Hopefully, we have two new CAOs starting their jobs at the same time,” she said.
