Cobourg Police/Northumberland OPP – Two Males Arrested In Drug Investigation

As part of an ongoing enhanced enforcement strategy targeting illegal drug activity affecting our community and the safety of our citizens, members of the Cobourg Criminal Investigations Branch, along with members of the OPP Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team, commenced a drug investigation.

On Thursday, June 11th, 2020, at approximately 4:00 pm, two adult males were arrested at a Business on Highway 28 just north of Hwy 401 in Hope for drug trafficking. As a result of this arrest, police seized 46 grams of fentanyl, .4 grams of cocaine, $2500 in cash, weigh scales and 4 cell phones.

28-year-old, Wallace MUNRO Jr. of Port Hope and 28-year-old Courtney REECE of Toronto were jointly charged with the following offences:

1. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl – Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

2. Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

3. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Wallace MUNRO Jr. was also charged with:
1. Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

Both accused were held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled July 1st, 2020.
