Passing Time Planting Begonias In Victoria Park

In Community, Local

Five staff members from the Cobourg Parks Department worked for two days on the floral clock in Victoria Park.

Workers completed the task on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, which was perfect timing for Canada Day.

It won’t be the same in Cobourg or anywhere throughout the country to celebrate our Nations birthday, but with the planting of approximately 6,000 begonias it certainly helps beautify the park for both residents and visitors.

Today’s Northumberland was on “hand” to answer the question how the clock is set each year.

While planting the thousands of begonias, staff have to constantly move the arms of the clock so it won’t get in their way.

But after everything is complete, and with the help of garden tools, Parks staff make sure the clock are set to the right time before the job is done.
