Northumberland Hills Hospital Parking Fees To Be Reinstated

In Community, Local

Effective Monday, July 6th, parking fees will be reinstated in all Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) parking lots for members of the public, staff and physicians.

NHH temporarily paused paid parking at 1000 DePalma Drive as part of its COVID-19 response.

“Earlier this month, with provincial approval, we began to gradually resume elective services. We will soon be resuming normal parking operations as well,” said Abhi Mukherjee, NHH’s Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. “The net revenue generated by parking (an average of approximately $750,000 per annum in recent years) is applied directly to patient care.

NHH, like many hospitals in the province, has absorbed the temporary loss of this revenue in recent months, but it is not something we are able to sustain on a go-forward basis without impacting services.”

NHH will return to using its gated parking system in all three lots on the hospital property (the main front entrance, the Emergency Department and staff lot, respectively). Parking rates will remain the same as they were before the temporary free parking measure. For hourly rate and other parking information, including discount pass options, please click here, or call the NHH Finance Office directly at 905-372-6811, ext. 4042.

Heightened cleaning practices will be in place at and around the interior parking payment kiosks at the main and Emergency Department entrances. All those entering the hospital are reminded to clean their hands upon entrance and throughout their stay, including before and after using the parking kiosks. Physical distancing must also be practiced while at the parking kiosks.
