Busy Days For Brighton Fire Department

In Editor Choice, Local

For the second day in a row, crews from Brighton responded to a structure fire.

At 6:42 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 crews were dispatched to a structure fire on Main Street on the west side of Brighton.

Arriving crews reported heavy smoke coming from the home, mainly garage area.

Mutual aid was requested from Cramahe Township while Brighton Fire Department worked to control the blaze.

It’s believed the fire started in the garage area, but Fire Chief Rick Caddick said there is no cause at this time, but it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.

Caddick said the crews did a great job knocking down the fire preventing it from spreading to the home.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and a passerby spotted the fire and called 9-1-1.

Main Street/County Road 2 was closed due to a number of emergency vehicles.
