Fatal Single Motor Vehicle Collision in Uxbridge

A driver was pronounced at the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Sunday morning in Uxbridge.

On Sunday, April 29, 2018, at approximately 7:21 a.m., members of North Division were called to Reid Road and Uxbridge Concession Road 8 in Uxbridge, regarding a single motor vehicle collision.

A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck being operated by a 60-year-old male was travelling eastbound on Reid Road, the driver lost control of his vehicle sliding sideways and striking a tree on the northeast corner of Reid Road and Concession 8.

The 60-year-old driver from Whitby was pronounced dead at the scene.  His name is being withheld at the discretion of the family.

Collision investigators from the Traffic Services Branch were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

This is the eighth fatal collision investigation of Durham Region compared to five from 2017 (YTD)

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision, who have not already spoken to police. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call D/Cst Lee of Traffic Services Branch at 905-579-1520 (toll free 1-888-579-1520) ext. 5231.
