Just after 9:30 pm on Monday March 9, 2020, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with emergency services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 near the Burnham Street exit.
Police received reports that dark colored Toyota SUV that was travelling eastbound on Highway 401, had driven off the highway into the south side ditch. Police arrived on scene and found the vehicle down an embankment sitting in shallow water. Officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was t ransported to a local area hospital for precautionary measures where an alleged assault occurred on an officer and emergency staff members.
As a result of the investigation Lyndsy O’NEIL (age 33) of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

Assault Peace Officer
Assault (2 counts)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on April 8, 2020.
