Cramahe Township Cancels Programs and Events in Municipal Facilities

In Local

All programs and events at Cramahe Township municipal facilities are suspended effective 3 p.m. today, March 13, until further notice.

Cramahe Township is working with local and provincial health and community health partners to monitor and take measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) for the protection of all.

The municipal facilities affected are:
• the Keeler Centre in Colborne
• the Castleton Town Hall
• the Colborne and Castleton branches of the Cramahe Public Library
• the Colborne Town Hall

The above facilities remain open to the public as normally scheduled but citizens are discouraged from gathering in them. Increased cleaning schedules of buildings and workplaces are in place. Surfaces and access points are being wiped down at regular intervals.

The public is asked to wash their hands before entering the municipal public spaces.

At the Colborne Municipal Building, no cash is being accepted. E-transfers and debit transactions are accepted.

At the Keeler Centre, all scheduled events and recreational activities are suspended.

The Colborne and Castleton library branches remain open regular hours with access to computers, borrowing of books and DVDs. Returns will be sequestered for 72 hours before being recirculated.

The decision to cancel programs and events was made following a meeting of senior staff, including our Community Emergency Management Co-ordinator (CEMC) and the Mayor, on the morning of Friday March 13, 2020.

“This is an ongoing situation,” Cramahe Township Mayor Mandy Martin says. “We will review the decision to restrict activities on a daily basis with updates through staff and our website. While it is disappointing to restrict community activities, this is in the best interest of us all. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
