Peterborough County OPP – Jail Time for Human Traffickers

On October 4, 2017 detectives from the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were involved in an investigation regarding the trafficking of minors in the Peterborough area. This was part of Operation Northern Spotlight which is an ongoing investigation into human trafficking, attempting to locate potential victims who are being exploited in the sex trade.

Detectives were able to identify two suspects that were traffickin g underage female victims in cities across Ontario. The victims were located at a Peterborough area hotel. The suspects were located while travelling on Highway 115 and were arrested by Peterborough County OPP members.

Fabrice MAMBO (age 25) from Clarington, Ontario was charged with multiple offences related to human trafficking and sentenced to three years in jail on December 6, 2019.

Akeem DRYSDALE (age 24) from Toronto, Ontario was charged with multiple offences related to human trafficking and sentenced to four years in jail on March 6, 2020.

The OPP takes the safety and security of all people very seriously.

The OPP will continue to investigate and hold those responsible for these crimes accountable.
