Dog “Doing Fine” After Being Thrown From Vehicle In Collision On Highway 401

A dog that was thrown from a vehicle as it rolled in Highway 401 on Monday, December 16, 2019 is on the mend.

Northumberland OPP issued a release stating at approximately 5:00 PM members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Highway 401 east bound at Toronto Rd in the Municipality of Port Hope, where a wheel had fallen off of a vehicle, causing one vehicle to roll over, while striking three others.

One driver suffered minor injuries as a result. Technical Collision Investigators with the Ontario Provincial Police attended the scene. The investigation is continuing.

Witnesses at the scene told Today’s Northumberland a dog was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled.

A number of citizens and emergency responders quickly found the dog near the side of the highway.

The patients had already been transported to hospital, so a paramedic supervisor transported the dog that was bleeding from the mouth to a veterinarian for treatment.

On Tuesday, a photo of the dog showed it had a cast on, but the owner said, “he’s doing great.”
