Peterborough Police Seeking Information in Ongoing Sexual Assault Investigation

In Police Blotter

The Peterborough Police Service is currently conducting an ongoing sexual assault investigation involving multiple victims and is seeking further information from the public.

There is currently a publication ban in place that prohibits our Service from releasing various details.

What we can provide is the following:

In early December 2019 the Peterborough Police Service received information regarding a sexual assault that had occurred in October of 2019 in the City of Peterborough.

On December 5, 2019 a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused, 33-year-old Andrew Bradley McKendrick, of Alderville, Ontario.

The accused was arrested on the warrant and charged with the following:

Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age

Sexual interference

Forcible confinement

As a result of the continuing investigation, a second teenage female victim has been identified in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in November of 2019 also in the City of Peterborough.

The following additional charges have been laid:

Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age X2

Sexual interference

Luring a child

Obtaining sexual services for consideration from a person under 18 years of age

Making sexually explicit material available to child

Through the investigation we have learned that the accused is using various social media platforms to communicate with and meet potential victims.

In both of the incidents described the accused and victims were strangers.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court today (Dec. 11).

The Peterborough Police Service believes there are more victims and that offences may have occurred in areas outside the City of Peterborough.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Peterborough Police Service at 705-876-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or Crime Stoppers online at www.stopcrimehere.ca

This investigation is ongoing and we will provide further updates when available.
