Northumberland OPP – Driver Charged with Multiple Driving Offences in Dirt Bike Incident

A member of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a motorist with several offences with respect to a male driving a dirt bike on a highway.

On Tuesday September 17, 2019 at approximately 9:00 a.m. an officer was on a focused patrol to observe for a dirt bike that had been reported to be in the area, driving recklessly. The officer observed the dirt bike and effected a vehicle stop.

As a result of the investigation Brandon PITRE (age 28) of Alnwick-Haldimand Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:
• Operation while prohibited Criminal Code Sec 320.18
• Drive motor vehicle no permit Highway Traffic Act 7(1)(a)
• Use altered plates Highway Traffic Act 12(1)(b)
• Speeding 98km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone Highway Traffic Act 128
• Turn – not in safety Highway Traffic Act 142(1)
• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance Compulsory Automobile Act 2(1)(a_

The dirt bike was impounded for 45 days.
The OPP would like to remind motorists that operating off-road vehicles on a highway is not permitted in Hamilton Township.
