Northumberland OPP – Labour Day Long Weekend Traffic Initiative

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had a busy weekend with traffic enforcement that yielded numerous charges in support of the Labour Day long weekend traffic initiative.

The charges included the following:

· 86 speeding
· 11 seatbelt
· 6 moving violations
· 17 other Highway Traffic Act infractions
· 6 Insurance related violations
· 1 Stunt driving
· 2 Impaired by alcohol

In addition to traffic enforcement officers responded to 241 calls for service over the course of the weekend which included 84 traffic complaints, 21 motor vehicle collisions, 28 accidental 911 calls, 9 noise complaints and 11 domestic/neighbour disputes.
