Let The Fun Begin “IT” Is Almost Here

In Editor Choice, Local

When Port Hope resident Adam Pearson has an idea – he takes it seriously.

For the past several days he’s been creating the entrance to a Funhouse that is similar to the one in the horror flick IT film coming to theatres everywhere this Friday.

Helping him along the way in a vacant store at Northumberland Mall have been, Larissa Clayton, April Potter, Lee Higginson, Jeff Lees, Don McNeil, Joel Curtis, Brian Amos and Pearson’s staff at Queenies Bake Shop.

Both IT films were mostly shot in downtown Port Hope where Pearson has his store along the main street in town.

In fact, Pearson was an extra in the Funhouse scene.

Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of Stephen King’s IT was the highest grossing horror flick ever.

The second film is highly anticipated from fans everywhere especially in Port Hope where it was filmed.

“It was wonderful for the town. There is “A” list celebrities in town and you can’t go wrong with that. There were many people were coming to town just to see the celebrities and take a look at the movie magic. It was amazing.”

Trailers for the movie show a number of areas where IT was filmed in the downtown area.

One scene dealt with a carnival with a number of rides and a Funhouse which is where Pearson got the idea.

Pearson held a special screening for the first IT in Port Hope, but with the second film, he thought of showing it on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Rainbow Cinemas in nearby Cobourg.

Pearson and friends have created the entrance to the Funhouse which will lead theatre goes up the escalator to the theatre on Thursday.
“This is absolutely perfect – but there might be a few surprises.”

“I get random things that come in my head and instead of like most people that say “that’s stupid,” I roll with it and just keep going until it’s done.”

The tickets are being sold for $11 each and there will also be a bit of “swag” and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank.
