Kodiaks Lose To Brooklin In Major Series Lacrosse

In Sports

The Cobourg Kodiaks missed an opportunity to climb into sole possession of third place in Major Series Lacrosse Sunday night. The Kodiaks fell to 5-6 on the season by losing to The Brooklin Lacrosse Club in front of over 400 fans at the Cobourg Community Centre.

The Kodiaks, coming off a close 13-12 loss to Brampton Excelsiors, scored the goal with a nice cross crease finish by Connor Goodwin. However, despite peppering Brooklin goalie, Zach Higgins with shots, Cobourg was down 4-1 after the first period.
The Kodiaks came out running in the second period. Their quick transition game was fast and exposed Brooklin’s speed but Higgins was able stop several breakaways. Joey Cupido seemed snake-bitten as he was stopped on several breakaways throughout the game. Cupido did sneak one by Higgins in the second. At the end of two, the score was 8-4.
The third period did not treat the Kodiaks well as Brooklin had a response for every move. The highlight of the period for Cobourg was a beautiful behind the back pass by Cam Milligan to Joe French. While on the power play, Milligan whipped the BTB to the crease where French used a quick stick to bury it behind a flopping Higgins. The comeback was not to be however, when Ben French took a five minute boarding penalty. The game ended 12-7.
Cobourg’s next game is Tuesday night at 8pm in Six Nations vs Chiefs.
