Breaking News – Coast Guard Searches Off Cobourg For Person In Water

In Local

Members of the Coast Guard searched the waters of Lake Ontario off Cobourg beach after a person along the beach reported that they saw a person in the water beyond the lighthouse on Sunday, June 9, 2019 shortly after 6 p.m.

Members of the Coast Guard cutter Cape Rescue searched the area and after speaking with the witness believe it was what’s known as a “dead head” or a large piece of wood floating in the water with two large branches that may have been mistaken for a person in the water.

As a result of  the record water levels in Lake Ontario there is much more debris in the water from  the erosion of the shoreline.
