Cobourg Kodiaks Sprint to Victory Over Brampton Excelsiors

The Cobourg Kodiaks are off to a 3-0 start to their 2019 Major Series Lacrosse season thanks to a convincing 8-4 win over the Brampton Excelsiors on Friday night.

The Kodiaks used a strong transition game to earn the victory. Captain Joey Cupido opened the scoring with a breakaway part way through the first period. The Kodiaks continued to outrun the Excelsiors for reminder of the first period to lead 4-0 after one.

The Kodiaks got themselves into penalty trouble in the second period and the Excelsiors capitalized to score their first goal of the game and would score once more during the middle frame. Cobourg led 5-2 after two periods of play.

The third period saw the Excelsiors score two goals in the first ten minutes to draw within one goal. The Kodiaks however would go on to score three unanswered to close out the game.

Second year goaltender Kevin Orleman was solid in net allowing only four goals. Rookie Scott Dominey led the offensively with three goals.

Cobourg’s next home game is Sunday June 9th at 6pm at Cobourg Community Centre vs Six Nations Chiefs! Tickets are available at the door.
