Family Fun At Jurassic Park In Port Hope

Port Hope’s Memorial Park was turned into Jurassic Park as over 1,000 fans came out to support Canada’s team on Friday, June 7, 2019.

Patriotic people stood for the national anthems of both countries, but nothing could be more Canadian then one man wearing a Toronto Raptors shirt hoisting his cup of Tim Horton’s and cheered as the game started.

It was game four in the best of seven series and to the thrill of the people in attendance in the park, the Raptors got the victory over the Golden State Warriors in Oakland, California.

The idea for the event in Port Hope was from Queenies Bake Shop owner Adam Pearson. It was a busy week for Pearson getting things ready for the family party in Jurassic Park, but through the help of many people it all came together and topping it off was the 105-92 victory.

“It was a fantastic family atmosphere and there was a lot of kids out as well. A lot of people were dressed up with face painting and signs,” said Pearson.

“This is exactly what I was hoping for – it’s fantastic.”

When the final buzzer went for the victory, another surprise for those in attendance in Port Hope were fireworks.

The are one win away from the NBA Championship with the next game taking place in Toronto on Monday, June 10, 2019.
