The Cobourg Police Service officers, Criminal Investigations Bureau, and Forensics Investigation Officer, were involved in a drug investigation in the downtown core on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
Two men from Durham Region were arrested and found to be in possession of a quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine.
Further to the investigation, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed and another arrest was made for possession for the purpose of Methamphetamine.
41 year old Cobourg resident, Jeffrey O’Neill was charged with the following offences:
1. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
3. Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to sec 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
4. Failure to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
29 year old Malcolm Stephenson of Tyrone was charged with the following offences:
1. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
3. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
4. Drive Motor Vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to sec 791)(a) of the HTA
5. Use validation not furnished for Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(e) of the HTA
6. Operation while Prohibited, contrary to sec 320.18 of the Criminal Code.
28 year old Lance McArthur of Ajax was charged with the following offences:
1. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
All three parties are being held pending a court date later today.
