Northumberland County Recognizes National Public Works Week

In City Hall

Northumberland County Council has proclaimed the week of May 19 to be National Public Works Week in Northumberland, in recognition of National Public Works Week being celebrated across North America from May 19 to 25, 2019.

“This week, we highlight the important contributions of public works professionals, who ensure that our communities have the infrastructure and programs they need to thrive; everything from safe, well-maintained roads and bridges, to management of public buildings, to recycling and waste disposal programs, and many more operations that impact daily life,” states County Warden John Logel.

“We extend our gratitude to Northumberland County’s public works staff—and all public works professionals both within and outside of Northumberland—who are helping to build and maintain strong and vibrant communities.”

This year marks the 59th annual National Public Works Week, sponsored by the Canadian Public Works Association and the American Public Works Association.

This year’s theme, ‘It Starts Here,’ highlights the impact public works has on planning, developing and maintaining healthy and growing communities.
