Cobourg Police – Suspect Faces Numerous Charges

Male Arrested for Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle, Possession Property obtained by Crime Under $5000, Mischief, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x4

Officers of the Cobourg Police Service have charged a male with numerous offences after responding to a report of a male entering unlocked vehicle at a retirement home in the Town of Cobourg.

On Tuesday May 7, 2019, at approximately 6:20am, Cobourg Police officers responded to a retirement home in the east end of Cobourg, after receiving a report of a male entering vehicles and running away when confronted by a citizen.

As a result of the police investigation, 27 year old Andrew DRYSDALE of Cobourg is charged with Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code, Possession Property obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code, Mischief contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x4 contrary to section 733.1(a) of the Criminal Code.

Andrew DRYSDALE was held in police custody for a Bail Hearing for May 7, 2019.

With the onset of warmer weather, there may be instances where windows remain open or doors are left unlocked. If you have valuables of any sort, remove them as a source of temptation and take them indoors with you. As always, when leaving your vehicle at any time, ensure that it is secure, and valuables left inside are out of sight.
