A four-week campaign targeting thefts in Oshawa LCBO outlets resulted in 21 suspects being arrested – including three people who were caught twice.
Over a four-week period beginning on March 5, plainclothes officers attended four LCBO outlets on Richmond Street East, Gibb Street, Rossland Road and Wentworth Street in Oshawa. Working closely with LCBO security, officers focused on thefts from within the stores. Also, a list of previous theft suspects caught on surveillance cameras was circulated to the investigative team. On 12 separate occasions, thefts occurred while plainclothes officers were in the store – resulting in quick arrests.
Officers arrested 24 individuals and have laid 39 criminal charges including: Assault a Peace Officer; Obstruct a Peace Officer; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; Theft; Breach; Fail to Appear.
