With the passing of long-serving Alnwick-Haldimand Township Councillor Raymond Benns last month, council is now beginning the process of finding a replacement to serve out the term he won in October’s elections.
A notice of vacancy has been issued by chief administrative officer Robin van de Moosdyk in a bid to seek eligible candidates, setting out requirements for such prospective office-seekers – filling out an application form, filing a declaration of qualifications, registering consent, completing a Form 2 (endorsement of nomination) and remitting a $100 filing fee, in addition to submitting a resume with details regarding their qualifications.
Completed documents must be submitted in person by the candidate to the municipal clerk’s office (at the township hall, 10836 County Rd. 2 in Grafton) by noon on May 8 (at which time proof of name and qualifying address will be required).
For more information, visit http://www.alnwickhaldimand.ca, or contact the municipal clerk at 905-349-2822 ext. 32 (or Lois O’Neill Jackon at ext. 25).
