Northumberland OPP – OPP Charge Two More Drivers with Impaired

Officers with the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two more drivers with impaired driving this week.
On Tuesday March 19, 2019 at approximately 3:40 pm an officer stopped a Black Honda SUV on County Road 35 in the Municipality of Trent Hills, after it was observed passing other vehicles in an unsafe manner. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Wayne MCCORMACK (age 48) of Trent Hills was arrested and charge d with:
Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court on April 17, 2019.

On Thursday March 21, 2019 just after 2:00 am officers received information of a possible impaired driver travelling westbound on County Road 2 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. A witness reported a black Chrysler sedan was travelling at inconsistent speeds, unable to drive in a marked lane and braking often. The vehicle was located on Brimley Road just north of County Road 2. The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Michael Robert DAINES (age 51) of Hamilton Township was arrested and charged with:
Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cobourg Court on April 24, 2019.
Both accused received an automatic driver’s licence suspension and the vehicles they were driving were towed and impounded.
Highway safety is a shared responsibility. If you choose to consume alcohol or drugs, the OPP encourage you to plan ahead to ensure that yourself and others that may be travelling our roadways arrive home safely.
