Sudbury Man Charged With Stunt Driving Along Highway 401

In Police Blotter

A 36-year-old Sudbury man will be finding an alternative driving for the next week after Northumberland OPP stopped him for traveling 160 kph along Highway 401 on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Northumberland OPP Constable Kevin McAllister stopped the vehicle on Highway 401 westbound, just west of Cobourg in Hamilton Township at approximately 1 p.m. after he clocked the car traveling 160 kph.

The man’s driver’s license was suspended for seven days and his car was impounded for seven days. The driver also has to appear in Cobourg Provincial Court on April 10.

A six-year-old child was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop. McAllister said, “traffic today is sporadic today from moderate to heavy and back to moderate.  We take this very seriously and makes it even worse there is a child in the vehicle.”
