It Appears Reward Is Worth The Risk For Some Anglers In Port Hope

Just days after a fisherman was rescued by Port Hope Fire Department after falling into Lake Ontario, anglers were risking their lives for fish on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Port Hope. While a number of anglers were fishing, and catching rainbow trout from the safety of the banks of the Ganaraska River a number of anglers walked along the east and west breakwall to fish at the entrance to Lake Ontario. It would have been near impossible for a rescue if any of the anglers would have fallen in the water, but that didn’t stop them. Most anglers were wearing cleats for grip on the ice and protective clothing, but a fisherman who fell into the water on Thursday, March 7, 2019 was also wearing cleats but fell into the ice waters. A person nearby heard that man’s cries for help and called 9-1-1 and members of the Port Hope Fire Department rescued the man
