Video – Transport Fire On Highway 401 In Port Hope

In Editor Choice, Local
Clarington firefighters were called out to a transport fire on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in the municipality of Port Hope just east of East Townline Road at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Heavy flames were coming from the cab of the transport when fire crews arrived on scene.
One witness told Today’s Northumberland he was driving eastbound when he saw the back of the transport on fire, and the transport still moving along the shoulder of the highway with flames dripping from the rear of the cab.
At least one lane was shut down of the highway causing extensive backup along the highway.
