Quinte West OPP – Historical Sexual Assault Charges Involving Former Caretaker at School

(On December 7, 2018, officers from the Quinte West Detachment Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a male at the Quinte West OPP Detachment on sexual related offences.

Joseph SIMPSON, 54 years of age of the City of Quinte West, was arrested and charged with:

•          Sexual Assault S.271 Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) (x3 Counts)

•          Sexual Interference S.151 CC (x3 Counts)

•          Sexual Exploitation S.153(1)(a) CC (x3 Counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, ON on January 8, 2019.

Police are attempting to identify any other possible victims of similar crimes due to the position that the accused has held as a caretaker in a local school. Any person with information regarding the investigation is requested to contact the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at 1-888-310-1122, should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2000.
