I’m honoured to step into the role of Acting Chair of the Cobourg Police Services Board and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our community in this capacity.
I approach this role with a strong sense of responsibility, a commitment to public service, and a willingness to bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and meaningful solutions to the table.
I look forward to working alongside my fellow Board members, our municipal council, Chief Chris Leather, our new Deputy Chief Tina Mairer, and every member of the Cobourg Police Service as we lead our Board and Service into the future.
Transparency | Collaboration | Integrity
These principles will be the foundation of my leadership.
I recognize that there has been considerable public discussion surrounding policing in our community.
I welcome those conversations. Healthy communities are built when people feel heard, different perspectives are respected, and difficult issues are addressed through honest dialogue and meaningful action.
I believe deeply in Cobourg, in our citizens, and in the members of our Police Service.
I have every confidence that, by working together, we can tackle difficult challenges, strengthen relationships, and find constructive solutions as we move forward.
Last Saturday night, I had the privilege of joining our frontline officers for a ride-along.
It was an opportunity to listen directly to the people working on our streets, hear what they are experiencing firsthand, and better understand the challenges they face, the concerns they encounter, and the solutions they see.
Frankly, it was an eye-opening experience.
It reinforced some of the concerns being raised within our community while giving me valuable insight into the realities our officers navigate every day.
Most importantly, it has given me a great deal to reflect on as I begin exploring new ideas and opportunities to improve how we do business moving forward.
At the heart of it all, I believe public service is about one thing: serving people.
That means listening to YOU.
It means being approachable, welcoming constructive criticism, asking difficult questions, and being willing to have the conversations necessary to make progress.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out with kind words, encouragement, and support following this appointment.
Your messages have genuinely meant a great deal to me, and they serve as a reminder of just how engaged, passionate, and invested our community is in its future.
This is OUR community.
Our future is a shared responsibility, and I look forward to working with you as we continue building trust, strengthening relationships, and moving Cobourg forward together.
My door is open.
My commitment is to serve.
And I look forward to the work ahead.
