Dangerous Operation
On August 8, 2026, shortly after 8:30 a.m., OPP received a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle being driven dangerously in the area of Front Street South and River Street in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Additional callers reported the same vehicle was involved in a number of other incidents throughout Campbellford, including property damage and verbal altercations.
Shortly after 1:00 p.m., a vehicle matching the description was involved in a non-injury collision with another vehicle in the parking lot of a community event on County Road 38 before leaving the scene.
Officers later located the vehicle; however, the driver failed to stop for police on multiple occasions before being taken into custody at a commercial property on Canrobert Street at approximately 3:25 p.m.
David O’KANE (49), of Campbellford, has been charged with:
Dangerous operation
Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – two counts
Mischief – destroys or damages property
Failure to stop after accident
Resist peace officer
Flight from peace officer – four counts
Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Mischief
On July 31, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Northumberland OPP received a report of damage to a parked vehicle on Queen Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
Officers attended and, following an investigation, arrested an individual later that day.
As a result, Carol MCKINLEY (64), of the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:
Mischief under $5,000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October.
Weapons
On August 7, 2026, shortly after 8:30 p.m., police responded to a verbal altercation between two individuals at a carpool lot on Division Street North in the Township of Hamilton.
It was reported that an edged weapon had been brandished during the dispute. The complainant provided a description of the suspect and officers located and arrested the individual. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a prohibited weapon.
Shaun KELLY (42), of no fixed address, has been charged with:
Assault with a weapon
Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Unauthorized possession of a weapon
The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
Assault
On August 8, 2026, shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault on Front Street East in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
Police were advised that an individual had thrown household items at the complainant and uttered threats. No serious injuries were reported.
As a result, Rachel WEST (40), of Oshawa, was arrested and charged with:
Assault with a weapon
Assault
Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
Prohibited Operation
On August 6, 2026, at around 4:45 p.m., an officer was conducting traffic enforcement on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Brighton. An electric bicycle was observed travelling at a speed greater than 32 km/h.
Following a stop, the subsequent investigation determined the vehicle did not meet the legal requirements of a power-assisted bicycle and the operator was prohibited.
Tyler HAYWARD (42), of Brighton, has been charged with:
Operation while prohibited
Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
Drive motor vehicle, no plates
Drive motor vehicle, no permit
Driving while under suspension
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.

Impaired Operation
On July 31, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Blythe Park Road in the Township of Cramahe.
Police located a vehicle matching the description parked on the roadside with the driver inside. After speaking with the motorist, officers commenced an impaired driving investigation which resulted in the individual being arrested.
Dana DUERDEN (36), of Oshawa, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to ap pear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
On August 2, 2026, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Northumberland OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on County Road 28 in the Municipality of Port Hope.
Police located a pickup truck in the ditch. Following an interaction with the uninjured driver, officers initiated an impaired operation investigation and subsequently arrested the motorist.
Dennis SICARD (41), of Port Hope, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
On August 5, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., OPP responded to the area of County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand regarding an unoccupied vehicle linked to an earlier traffic complaint involving a driver who w as unable to maintain their lane.
Officers located the driver at a nearby business in the company of two children. An impaired driving investigation was commenced, and the individual was taken into custody. The accused was transported to a local detachment where they provided breath samples registering nearly three times the legal limit. The children were placed in the care of a family member.
A 37-year-old woman from Cobourg has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September. The individual will not be identified in order to protect the identity of the young persons.
On August 10, 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a resident reported hearing a loud noise and believed a motor vehicle collision had occurred on 9th Line in the Municipality of Port Hope.
Officers arrived and located a heavily damaged vehicle that had collided with a tree.
After speaking with the driver, police initiated an impaired driving investigation which resulted in the motorist being arrested. No serious injuries were reported.
As a result, Cole STINSON (29), of the Municipality of Port Hope, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
For each person charged with impaired operation, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were imposed.
