In Local

A spectacular light show over Cobourg Harbour provided the perfect finale to Canada Day celebrations in Cobourg on Tuesday, July 1, 2026.

Promptly at 10 p.m., the night sky erupted in a dazzling display of colour as fireworks illuminated the harbour, bringing cheers from the thousands of people gathered along Cobourg’s waterfront.

Families, friends and visitors lined Victoria Park, the beach and harbourfront to take in the annual tradition, with brilliant bursts of red, white, gold and blue reflecting off the waters of Lake Ontario.

The fireworks capped off a day filled with community spirit, including a parade, live entertainment, family activities and celebrations marking Canada’s 159th birthday.

As the final fireworks faded into the night sky, the crowd responded with loud applause, bringing another memorable Canada Day in Cobourg to a spectacular close.
