Celebrate a Locally Grown Northumberland Business This Spring for Your Chance to Win!

In Local

This spring, celebrate your favourite locally grown business for the chance to win! As spring blooms in Northumberland County, we are celebrating local businesses for their important role in helping our community grow and prosper. From farm fresh markets, patio dining and outdoor adventures to springtime shopping and customer-centred local services, Northumberland has it all.

To recognize locally grown businesses for making Northumberland unique, we’re curating a map of community recommendations – and we want to hear from you! Submit a shout-out for your favourite Northumberland business to be included in the map, and you can enter to win a $500 gift basket full of fresh local finds, sourced from businesses throughout our community. The final map will be shared on social media at the end of the campaign so community members can view and explore these local recommendations.

As part of the submission process, you can also take the pledge to shop local, to express your commitment to supporting local businesses – this spring and beyond.

About the pledge to shop local
Prosper In Northumberland – a collaboration of local business associations, municipalities, media and business owners from across the county – is leading a community-wide initiative to encourage Northumberland residents to redirect a portion of their average monthly spending to local businesses, right here in Northumberland.

Community members can show their support for the Buy Local movement by taking the pledge to shop local at BuyNorthumberland.ca.

You can choose how much you would like to redirect to local businesses, and there is no extra spending required. This pledge is simply a way for you to declare your commitment to making an effort to support local businesses, instead of shopping online or out of town for a portion of your monthly routine shopping.

When you shop local, you support your neighbours’ jobs, our local economy and you invest your money directly back into your own community. That investment supports local jobs, local charities, community events and groups, and support local taxes that help contribute to a better neighbourhood.
