Peterborough County OPP – Intimate Partner Violence Incident Leads to Attempted Murder Charge

The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a residence in Peterborough County for a report of an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) call.

On Monday February 23, 2026, shortly after 9:00am, officers from the Peterborough County OPP received a call related to an assault that had taken place at a residence within Peterborough County. The caller advised that a former partner had arrived at their house that morning and had assaulted them. After the assault took place, the accused left in their vehicle. EMS was dispatched based on the description of the injuries to the victim.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who was taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. A description of the suspect and their vehicle was provided and a short while later, officers located and arrested a 41-year-old male also from Peterborough County.

The Peterborough County OPP Major Crime Unit began an investigation and as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with;

• Attempt to commit murder

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
