A former elementary school teacher is facing charges in relation to a historical sexual assault investigation.

On December 16, 2025, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau commenced an investigation into allegations of a historical sexual assault against a young person involving a teacher at a St Michael Catholic Elementary School in Cobourg, occurring between 1992 and 1993.

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, Jack Vollering (80) was arrested and charged with

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Interference
  • Sexual Exploitation

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released to a surety.

The investigation is ongoing as there may be other victims. Anyone with information is asked to call 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 or online at stopcrimehere.ca.

Cobourg Police Service reminds everyone that there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences, and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence. A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. Police encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.
