In Community, Local

Busy days as the ninth year for the Port Hope Police Tammies Jammies is coming to an end.

Port Hope Police Constable Tammie Staples along with Auxiliary Jenna Stapley and staff from Giant Tiger in Cobourg were busy picking out over 200 pairs of pyjamas on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Staples goal from the beginning was to have one pair of pyjamas.

This years goal is 3,000 pairs.

Staples said that Stapley keeps track of the pyjama count and so much more.

“Jenna has been a huge partner in this. Honestly I couldn’t have done this with all the team work including Meagan, Gwen Rob and more.”

Although Stapley is keeping count, Staples doesn’t want to know the final total until the end of the pyjama drive this Saturday.

“It’s always a huge surprise at the end. This year Jenna asked if I wanted to know and I said no – it’s a secret.”

Giant Tiger stores in Cobourg and Port Hope have been a great help with the Pyjama drive.

After the pyjamas were rang through the cash register, the receipt was over eight-feet long.

Each year there is a lot of effort put into the pyjama drive but Staples sums it up by saying, “it’s definitely for the children.”
