Northumberland County Hears of Successful Wellness and Identification Clinics

Northumberland County’s Wellness and Identification Clinics are proving to be very beneficial, Client Services Manager Jennifer Glover reported Wednesday at county council’s Social Services Committee.

Following the initial one in 2024, Glover said, they had two this year – one in Campbellford, one in Cobourg.

The idea is to include a number of community service agencies at one point to help people needing identification and similar services in one big blitz – though they also see people individually year-round.

“We did see over 80 individuals in these clinics from all walks of life – not just the clients we serve through social services,” Glover said.

“We did provide a number of supports to the broader public,” she added, giving the example of a senior with a lost birth certificate but was overwhelmed by trying to obtain a replacement on-line.

“This is the type of success that we have at these types of events.”

They provided more than 170 interactions among all the agencies present, and even more agencies are asking to be included in future events – which, for 2026, they hope to hold in Port Hope, Brighton and Cobourg “to ensure we are reaching all levels of our municipality.”

Both events cost $3,000, “all contained within existing budget lines.

“It’s quite a rewarding activity, and we are happy to continue with that.”
