Durham Region Police – Suspect Facing Charges After Colliding with Police Cruiser (Name Released)

A male has been arrested for impaired operation of a vehicle after colliding with a police cruiser in Pickering.

On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at approximately 3:05 a.m., members of West Division responded to a collision involving an Audi SUV and a police cruiser in the area of Kingston Road and the Whites Road westbound 401 Highway off ramp.

Two cruisers on the way to a call for service were making a left-hand turn onto Kingston Road from the Whites Road westbound 401 Highway off ramp when an Audi SUV travelling eastbound on Kingston Road failed to stop for a red light at the intersection. The Audi SUV slammed its brakes near missing the first police cruiser as it turned left. The Audi continued eastbound through the intersection at a high rate of speed, still against the red light, and t-boned the second police cruiser. The driver of the Audi exited his vehicle and attempted to flee the area on foot. Officers located the suspect driver a short distance away and took him into custody. The suspect was found to be operating the Audi with a G1 licence.

The involved officer was transported to local-area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Impaired Operation Cause Bodily Harm,

Refuse Breath Demand, Leave Scene of Accident – Cause Bodily Harm,

G1 Driver – Operate Between Midnight & 5 AM,

G1 Driver – Not Accompanied by Qualified Driver,

Careless Driving – Cause Bodily Harm,

Drive Motor Vehicle – No Valid Permit,

Fail To Render Assistance at Scene of Accident,

Fail to Stop – Red Light,

Use Unauthorized Plates for Vehicle,

and Fail to Display Two Licence Plates.

He was released on an Undertaking.
