Peterborough County OPP – Fatal Collision on County Road 36

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle head-on collision on County Road 36 in the Municipality of Trent Lakes.

At approximately 5:15pm on Monday November 3, 2025, the Peterborough County OPP received a call from Trent Lakes Fire Department advising of a two-vehicle head-on collision on County Road 36. Due to the extent of the collision, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also dispatched. County Road 36 was closed to traffic in both directions between Tate’s Bay Road and Nichols Cove Road.

Officers arrived on scene and observed two passenger vehicles, both with extensive front-end damage. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries and was later transported to a Toronto area trauma centre.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 27-year-old female from Bobcaygeon, ON., was confirmed as deceased at the scene.

No other passengers were in either vehicle.

County Road 36 remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and police members trained in collision reconstruction, measured and documented the scene.

Officers are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police. They are asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
