Video – Busy Weekend for Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation Officers Along the Ganaraska River

Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation Officers charged several people over the weekend with fishing in a closed area along the Ganaraska River.

The extended Fall fishing run from October 15 to December 31, anglers can catch Atlantic salmon, brown trout, Pacific salmon, and rainbow trout between the CNR Bridge and the Jocelyn Street Bridge in Port Hope.

Fishing is open year round south of the CNR bridge.

The charges stem from fishing along the Ganaraska River in the area of Dale Road west of County Road 28.

One person was also charged on Sunday (October 19, 2025) with using a pitchfork to catch salmon.
