Belleville Police – Incidents Include Family Dispute, Breach of Probation

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 100 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on October 7, 2025 to 5:00 am on October 8, 2025.

Family Dispute
On October 7th at 8:42pm, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a family dispute. It was reported that a male had been physically fighting with his mother before fleeing the residence. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported that a verbal altercation had escalated, during which she was thrown to the floor, choked, and punched. Officers observed broken glass, damaged plant pots, and a smashed television inside the residence.

As a result of the investigation, officers located, arrested, and charged a 29-year-old Belleville man. During the arrest, he was resisting and attempted to kick officers. He has been charged with:
· Assault
· Overcome resistance – choking
· Mischief under $5000
· Utter threats X2
· Resist peace officer

He was held for a bail hearing.

Breach of Probation
On October 7th at 7:58pm, Belleville Police on general patrol conducted a traffic stop in the city’s east end after an Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) hit showed an expired plate attached to a vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers spoke with the male driver and the male passenger.
Through investigation, officers learned that the driver was in breach of his probation order by being in communication with the passenger. Officers also observed open containers of alcohol in the front seat of the vehicle.
As a result, a 22-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
· Failure to comply with probation order
· Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol (LLCA)
· Driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit (HTA)

He was held for a bail hearing.
